FAQ
Can I connect a new type E or F kitchen hood to an older ULV or USV unit?
No, a type E or F kitchen hood cannot be connected to an older ULV or USV unit. With such a connection, the switch may fail, and you will not be able to regulate the motor speed. To ensure correct operation and avoid damage to the equipment, the kitchen hood and the unit must be compatible and designed for use together.
Can I install a bathroom fan myself?
All permanently installed electrical equipment, including bathroom fans, must be connected by a certified electrician. This ensures a correct and compliant installation, and you will receive a declaration of conformity confirming that the work has been carried out properly.
Can I install a ventilation unit in a cold attic?
Some ventilation units from Flexit can be installed in a cold attic, but this does not apply to all models. Whether a unit is suitable for installation in a cold attic is stated in the installation instructions for the specific product. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for placement, insulation, and installation to ensure correct operation and to avoid condensation and frost issues.
Can I upgrade the control system in my ventilation unit?
It is not possible to upgrade the control system between different Flexit product series. Within the same unit series, however, it may be possible to upgrade from a basic control panel to a more advanced panel, provided that the unit was originally supplied with the simplest control panel in the series. Which upgrades are possible depends on the unit model and series.
Can I regulate a central exhaust fan motor using a standard speed controller?
No, Flexit does not recommend regulating a central exhaust fan motor using a standard speed controller. Such a solution may cause humming noise in the motor and result in undesirable operation. For correct and stable control, it is recommended to use a controller designed for this purpose, for example Flexit article number 09257.
Can I regulate the speed of a SAT EC or an EC exhaust fan using a standard speed controller?
No, a SAT EC or other EC exhaust fan cannot be speed-controlled using a standard speed controller. To regulate the speed of an EC fan, a controller designed for 0–10 V control must be used. An example of a suitable controller is Flexit article number 114729. Using the correct controller is necessary to ensure safe and proper operation.
Can I control all Flexit ventilation units with an app?
No, not all Flexit ventilation units can be controlled with an app. Only units in the Nordic and EcoNordic series can be controlled via the Flexit GO app. These units are designed for app-based control and allow easy monitoring and operation of the ventilation system directly from a smartphone or tablet.
Can I control the central exhaust unit (ULV, USV, USVX) using a switch instead of the kitchen hood?
Yes, central exhaust units of type ULV, USV and USVX can be controlled using a switch instead of via the kitchen hood. For this purpose, you can use a 3-speed switch with article number 09257. This allows simple and stable control of the fan speed directly from the switch.
Can I perform basic maintenance on my ventilation system myself?
Yes, basic maintenance can be carried out yourself if you are reasonably technically inclined and know what needs to be done. What type of maintenance can be performed, and how it should be done correctly, is described in the user manual for your product. By following the user manual, you ensure correct execution and safe operation of the ventilation system.
Can the wall hood be turned?
